Powerful Purple Fruit Smoothie

Crissy

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

Today, I want to share with you a simple smoothie recipe that we enjoy often in our home.

Only three ingredients required in this super simple and scrumptious smoothie.

Kid Approved

Our daughter has been drinking this smoothie since she was about 6 months old. It‘s one of her favorite treats and it’s loaded with nutrition. That’s a win-win!

I’m all about simple, healthy, quick meals and snacks. This has been a staple snack for our family for years and I can give you three good reasons why:

1. It is so easy to make. This is priority number one. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter how delicious something tastes or how healthy it is; if it isn’t easy to make it isn’t going to be made frequently. Also, all of the ingredients have long shelf lives therefore making it readily available.

2. It is super filling. Whether the baby needs a quick snack before heading to the park for some afternoon play or I’m starving from nursing, this snack fits the bill. It packs a powerful punch of nutrition and is chock full of protein (thanks to the yogurt). Plus, this smoothie is full of antioxidants!

3. Tastes delicious! You can’t go wrong with this combination: creamy yogurt, silky almond milk and sweet berries. Yum! I previously used cow’s milk but I began drinking almond milk when I was a vegan. Even though I have not been a vegan for some time now, I still drink almond milk.

Recipe

Ingredients: Almond milk, organic frozen berry blend, organic plain yogurt.

Directions:

  1. Add half cup of berries; Two heaping tablespoons of yogurt and one cup of almond milk.

  2. Blend and enjoy!

Helpful Tips

I use a Magic Bullet Blender and that helps with the overall ease of making smoothies. It’s a compact, powerful blender and it makes the perfect size serving for one person. Clean up is a breeze. I simply pop the cup into the dishwasher and rinse off the blade.

I buy the frozen berry blend that has strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. It’s important to try to buy the organic variety whenever you can because berries, especially strawberries, are high on the pesticide list. I should also mention there are a lot of seeds in this smoothie. My husband is not a fan of the seeds and he prefers other smoothies to this one. However, my daughter and I do not mind it and we just have a sip of water after we finish our smoothie.

That’s it! I encourage you to give this smoothie a try and see just how easy and delicious this nutritious snack is.
